My Third Lucha VaVoom show!

Thank you for visiting my photo blog for the August 16th, 2024 Lucha VaVoom show! If you live around Los Angeles, please check it out! You will have so much fun! These shows are perfect for wrestling lovers and non-wrestling fans. You will laugh! Then you will laugh some more! If you notice on most photographs featuring fans, the fans expressions tell you that they are having a great time. I myself, kept getting caught up in between doing my best to get my shots while being distracted by the wrestling show itself. A win-win for me, as I switched during the show between a photographer and a fan. I took my trusty Fuji GFX100s with a 55mm lens and my fixed Fuji XV100VI. Loved the color renditions! I have been watching wrestling since I was five years old, but this is the first time I had the opportunity to document a wrestling show, I wanted to do my best to get the best shots possible.

As mentioned in my sub-heading, this was my third Lucha VaVoom show I have attended. The last show I attended was about 6-7 years ago. It was great to see wrestlers I saw then that paved a new love for wrestling for me that slowly was fading in my mid 20s - like the Crazy Chickens! I personally believe there is room for wrestling to be interpreted in different ways. Wrestling can be serious. Wrestling can be dramatic. Wrestling can be goofy and cheesy. Wrestling can be dangerous. Wrestling can be slow or fast. It has genres like films. At the end of the day, it depends on what makes sense for the story. Although Lucha VaVoom leans towards the comedy side, it is what makes it different and special! Having legendary commentators like comedian Tom Kenny (voice actor of Sponge Bob) gives the show a unique flavor in the world of wrestling. It also revolves around Mexican Lucha Libre high-flying styles maneuvers. It was during my mid-20s that mainstream wrestling to me felt a little repetitive and monotonous at times (Not that it was all bad). When I discovered Lucha VaVoom and other local indie wrestling shows, I realized there is a whole other world of wrestling out there I can expose myself to and digest. The wrestlers, commentators, announcers, and staff are highly skilled in their craft and you the fan have an opportunity to be involved by shouting, cheering, and applauding. Just make sure to pay attention to listen to the staff who ask you to move out of the way if you plan to sit at ringside, because the luchadors can fly to an area near you. Safety first! And arriva los rudos!! Support your local wrestling shows and luchadores!
